This is ‘Down by the Dighty’ a commissioned film by Ian Forbes. This must be at least the 4th time I’ve posted his work except this time I have an excuse other than hyping a talented friend as I am responsible for the music for this one. Listening back there are a few things I’d do differently but when is that not the case. More interestingly though, one of Ian’s films ‘The Accidental Tourist’ has won an award at a Melbourne based short film festival. You can go watch it on his vimeo now. As well as this a film he made with Matt Cameron, ’Feet for Hands’ which I posted recently has won best comedy at London’s Screentest festival.

This has been a favourite of mine for a while. The chorus kicks in around 02:43, i just wish there was more of it.

Gropetown are from Glasgow. My pal Kenny is in them. I have been listening to their e.p. ‘Obey the Shepherd’ a lot. You can get the e.p. here.

Ok, so this isn’t normally even nearly the kind of thing i’d like. Guitar/bass/drums set up, way too much cymbal near the end of the track, lyrics that sort of alienate me cause they are probably relevant to people with real lives. Theres a few lines that make me wince in embarrassment but whatever, thats probably just my fault. I just figured i should take a break from my usual dark, icy, robotic fare. Normal service shall resume shortly. And yes i realise there is an actual music video for this track but i really dislike it for some reason.
